I iskreno?

A najnovija ekranizacija? Nisam ju još gledala, budem, ali trenutno me baš i ne privlači…

Hvala Znanje na poslanom primjerku! Naše izdanje je daleko najljepše!

Wuthering Heights – Emily Brontë

Wuthering Heights is Emily Brontë’s only novel, published in 1847. It was written under the pseudonym Ellis Bell because female writers were considered quite frivolous at the time. This Victorian novel, steeped in elements of the Gothic tradition, tells one of the darkest stories of the obsessive “love” between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff…

And honestly? All the characters are HORRIBLE and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Here you will find a whole gallery of disgusting, awful, toxic characters, but also a story that is so well written that it is impossible to remain indifferent. Brontë’s imagination and writing style are simply unforgettable.

I can’t say that I adore this novel because I usually love classic love stories (I am team Jane Austen after all) and all the cuteness that goes with them. This is the complete opposite; dark, twisted, toxic. But I admit… the novel is fantastic.

And no, this is not a love story.

Wuthering Heights is anything but. This is a story about obsession, hatred, violence, revenge and every ugly urge that people carry inside themselves when no one sets boundaries for them. This is a story about generational trauma with just a glimmer of hope at the very end.

And the latest film adaptation? I haven’t seen it yet, I will, but right now it doesn’t really appeal to me…
