Autumn i Finn nekad su bili nerazdvojni. Najbolji prijatelji. A onda su se udaljili…sve do samoga kraja.
Ne čitam YA. U nekom sam trenutku zaključila da su te godine iza mene. Ali onda sam bila na susretu s autoricom i potpuno se oduševila. A i neki novi klinci koji stvarno čitaju uspjeli su me zaraziti svojim entuzijazmom na promociji…i ostatak je povijest.
Da je bio sa mnom me oduševila. Da sam joj barem rekao malo manje, ali apsolutno razumijem hype i drago mi je da sam objema dala priliku.
Da je bio sa mnom počinje samim krajem, a ni u jednom trenutku mi nije bila dosadna. Držala me i stalno me vukla dalje, a njihov odnos me jako zanimao. Likovi su stvarni i uvjerljivi, a emocije koje proživljavaju vratile su me ravno u te godine. Autorica se bavi aktualnim tinejdžerskim temama poput prijateljstva, prvih ljubavi i obitelji. Piše jezikom koji im je blizak i potpuno mi je jasno zašto ih je osvojila. Ovo je priča o svim onim „što bi bilo kad bi bilo“…
Da sam joj barem rekao u početku je ispričana iz njegove perspektive i taj mi je dio bio pomalo repetitivan. Kasnije postaje puno zanimljivija i na kraju donosi ono što sam zapravo i tražila, pravi završetak njihove priče.
Ako volite YA ili ste baš u tim godinama, Laura Nowlin piše za vas. A moji primjerci odmah su završili kod nećakinje 😊

I don’t read YA. At some point, I decided those years were behind me. But then I went to meet the author and got all hyped to read it. And some new kids who actually read managed to infect me with their enthusiasm at the promotion…and the rest is history.
If He Had Been With Me blew me away. If Only I Had Told Her a little less, but I absolutely understand the hype and I’m glad I gave them both a chance.
If He Had Been With Me starts at the very end, and despite that I never got bored. It held my attention and kept pulling me along, and I was very interested in their relationship. The characters are real and believable, and the emotions they experience took me right back to those years. The author deals with current teenage topics such as friendship, first loves and family. She writes in a language that is close to them and I completely understand why she won them over. This is a story about all those “what ifs”…
If Only I Had Told Her was told from his perspective at the beginning and that part was a bit repetitive for me. Later it becomes much more interesting and in the end it brings what I was actually looking for, a closure to their story.
If you like YA or are at that age, Laura Nowlin writes for you. And my copies immediately ended up with my niece 😊
