Autorica nas vodi kroz njezin život, odrastanje, zasnivanje obitelji, život u vrijeme Španjolskog građanskog rata, sreću i tugu svakodnevnice. Kroz vrlo slikovite i žive opise upoznajemo ruralnu Kataloniju prve polovice 20. stoljeća i život žene u vrijeme Španjolskog građanskog rata.
Sitna, ali dinamitna! Ovih 76 stranica bilo je dovoljno da me oduševi i slomi. Predivno pisana, prepuna emocija, meni osobno prava poezija od knjige. Pojedine dijelove čitala sam i nekoliko puta koliko sam uživala.

“I don’t know if we always have to lose someone to realize that we loved them, but that’s exactly what happened to me.”
Stone in a Landslide – Maria Barbal
At only thirteen years old, Conxa leaves her family and her native village in the Pyrenees due to poverty and goes to live with a wealthy childless aunt. The author takes us through her life, growing up, starting a family, life during the Spanish Civil War, the happiness and sadness of everyday life. Through very vivid descriptions, we get to know rural Catalonia in the first half of the 20th century and the life of a woman during the Spanish Civil War.
Small, but powerful! These 76 pages were enough to blow me away and break me. Beautifully written, full of emotions, for me personally the real poetry of a book. I read some parts several times just to enjoy them all over again.
The way the author writes about the daily life of Conxa, how she develops the characters, how she skillfully weaves emotions into the sentences is so unique. Such a simple story, yet so full of meaning. It was love at first page, and the fascination with the main female character also contributed to that.
@nakladairis once again made a superb move by including this work in its project Transcending Borders: Women’s Voices in European Literature.
I highly recommend this work that says a lot with just a few words!
