“You know how you can remember exactly when and where you read certain books? A great novel, a truly great one, not only captures a particular fictional experience, it alters and intensifies the way you experience your own life while you’re reading it. And it preserves it, like a time capsule.”

Heart the Lover – Lily King
Years after her student days, Jordan is once again confronted with all the pain of that period in her life, remembering an intense friendship and a great love she shared with Sam and Yash.
To be completely honest, I hadn’t heard of Lily King before this book was released, so imagine my surprise when I realized I had just read one of the best stories I’ve ever come across. An even bigger surprise was discovering that there are more where this came from.
I loved it from the very first page to the last. I loved the writing style, the story is real and deeply emotional, so engaging that I simply had to know how it would end. I couldn’t put it down. What I definitely didn’t expect was how much it would break me. It will make you sad. You will cry. Believe me, I don’t cry but this book made me cry.
The student life may be the most beautiful period we get to experience, you’re old enough to do whatever you want, yet still “young” enough to have so much forgiven and forgotten. And if you study and live in a city far from your parents…that brings a special kind of weight and freedom.
Jordan, Sam, and Yash you broke my heart, but I love you.
A huge recommendation for everyone who loves a good love story, love triangles, stories about coming of age and healing, but also stories about friendships that leave a lifelong mark.
