Kada Louise bude brutalno ubijena unutar naizgled sigurnih zidova arheološkog kompleksa, svi postaju sumnjivci…

I neka. Ovako mi je čitanje zanimljivije i zabavnije.

Unatoč relativno kratkom opsegu, roman je bogat atmosferom, psihološkim nijansama i zanimljivim likovima. Najviše me se dojmila Amy – snažna, racionalna i pronicljiva žena čija perspektiva daje dodatnu dubinu cijeloj priči.

“A woman who doesn’t lie is a woman without imagination and without sympathy.”

Murder in Mesopotamia – Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie proves once again why she is rightly called the queen of this genre. In this novel, set in the middle of a dusty archaeological dig in Mesopotamia, the tension is palpable from the very first page. Dr. Leidner, a distinguished archaeologist, hires nurse Amy Leatheran to care for his wife Louise, a woman everyone calls “Lovely Louise,” but whose presence causes unease among the expedition members. When Louise is brutally murdered within the seemingly safe walls of the archaeological complex, everyone becomes a suspect…

Another excellent “whodunnit” story with the likable detective Hercule Poirot. His arrival brings order to the chaos, but also an additional dose of intrigue. And again I was shocked by the ending and the killer. At one point I even stopped and tried to figure out who the killer could be, but I still can’t be as imaginative as Agatha Christie. And so be it. This makes reading more interesting and fun for me.

Despite its relatively short length, the novel is rich in atmosphere, psychological nuances, and interesting characters. I was most impressed by Amy – a strong, rational, and insightful woman whose perspective adds depth to the story.

If you like mysteries that keep you up late into the night, Murder in Mesopotamia is the right choice. And if you are already a fan of Christie’s genius – you know that another unforgettable journey awaits you.
