“We live in a world where exceptional women have to sit around waiting for mediocre men.”

Fantastično pisana, zanimljiva, napeta i zabavna.

Carrie Soto Is Back – Taylor Jenkins Reid

At the time of her retirement, Carrie Soto was the best tennis player in the world with a record twenty slam wins. A few years later, her record is threatened and Carrie makes a decision that few expected…

If someone had told me that I would enjoy the descriptions of tennis matches so much, I would have told them that they were crazy without a shadow of a doubt. The way she won tournaments in her career, she also won me along the way. I was very skeptical when starting this reading adventure. Daisy was by no means a book to my taste, and then Malibu Rising brought me back to this author again, and after the praises pouring in from all sides, I decided to read something that, according to the description, sounded boring to me. I mean who in their right mind would enjoy so much tennis without being a big fan of the sport?! Well, apparently me 😊

And before I knew it, I fell in love with all the characters, Carrie the most, but also Javier and Bowe. I liked Carrie with all her virtues and flaws, for me she was never a negative character but a strong female character, broken-hearted and with a very clear goal in life. The relationship between her and her father is wonderful and touching, a relationship that we would all like to have in our lives. I especially like that Javier is portrayed as a caring and good father, not a coaching tyrant.

I must not forget the relationship between Carrie and Bowe – romantic, real and full of understanding and patience on his part. I think he laid a good foundation for a new chapter in Carrie Soto’s life.

In the end, this turned out to be one of the most interesting books I’ve read this year! Fantastically written, interesting, tense and fun. I never, ever skip to the end of a chapter to find out what’s going to happen, and this time I did – I think that says enough about how much I liked it.
