The American Roommate Experiment

Elena Armas

We’ll start the week with an unpopular opinion. The Spanish Love Deception was better. I know everyone praises this one, but it didn’t blow me away. It’s good, but I have to admit that I expected more.

Rosie and Lucas are very likeable characters whose lives intertwine when Rosie moves into her friend’s apartment unannounced due to a collapsed ceiling in hers, and Lucas arrives announced on his trip through America. They both won me over as characters, they are likeable, funny and entertaining. The chemistry is there, but it will take you 350 pages to get to it.

The story itself started well, but then halfway through it became quite weak. I like it, but it’s still too slow for my taste. If you like slow burn and are looking for a book with which you will completely relax and feel good, definitely take a look at this one.
