“Jedne nedjelje u ožujku Paula odluči biti sretna.”

Daniela Krien donosi nam priču o pet žena: Pauli, Judith, Bridi, Maliki i Jorinde. Pratimo crtice iz njihovih života, ljubavne veze i njihove krahove, pokušaj ispunjavanja više životnih uloga i usklađivanje želja i mogućnosti života.

Love in Case of Emergency – Daniela Krien

Daniela Krien brings us the story of five women: Paula, Judith, Brida, Malika and Jorinda. We follow the snippets from their lives, relationships and their crashes, the attempt to fulfill multiple roles in life and the harmonization of desires and life possibilities. An extremely drinkable and realistic story about five women and five different lives, each with their own concerns, desires and expectations.

Without absolutely any expectations, I started reading this story, I spent my time with Paula, Judith, Brida, Malika and Jorinde, I grieved and rejoiced with them and in the end I was sad that it all came to an end. I love this writing format where seemingly separate stories are connected by some common character or event and the author makes the transition from one story to another smooth and natural.

The author evoked all the feelings she writes about, even more, I often think about the fate of these women and how much sadness some of them carry inside them every day, what they struggle with and how difficult and lonely life is sometimes. This is a story about love, but also about the lack of it, about sadness, the everyday one, and how we can deal with it in different ways.

Definitely a recommendation from me, and I’m also looking forward to the new novel Fire by the same author!
