Roman me uvukao u priču od prve stranice. Prvo me privukao sam žanr – kombinacija fantasyja i kriminalističkog romana. A sad zamislite ta dva svijeta spojena. Preludo i predobro.
Oduševio me i svijet i radnja, ali najviše likovi.
Bori se s disleksijom, i upravo me to oduševilo.
Hvala izdavaču!

The Tainted Cup – Robert Jackson Bennett
Ana and Dinios are investigating the death of a high-ranking Imperial officer whose body suddenly sprouted a tree so powerful that it tore him and everything around him apart. Although the dangers on the edge of the Empire are well known, this kind of death is unprecedented…
Now this was really fun!
I was drawn into the story from the first page. What first got my attention was the genre – a combination of fantasy and murder mystery. These are two genres that make me feel like I’ve wrapped myself in the softest blanket and travelled to a whole new adventure. I love a good murder mystery. I love a good fantasy novel. Now imagine those two worlds combined. So crazy and so good.
I loved both the world and the plot, but most of all the characters.
Ana Dolabra is an eccentric, wacky and completely unforgettable investigator. Dinios Kol is her assistant and a memoirist with a photographic memory. The two of them are like Holmes and Watson, but in an even crazier, more original version. And Dinios… I’m certainly not going to forget him so quickly.
Everyone thinks he’s incompetent, and even he thinks so himself, but he’s actually one of the most intelligent characters in the book. He struggles with dyslexia, and that’s what really got me excited. It’s the first time in fantasy that I’ve come across a character with real struggles, portrayed with such warmth, depth, and respect.
Along with a great murder mystery, we also got a magical fantasy world, completely different from the ones we’ve already seen.
A huge recommendation from me, and I can’t wait to read the sequel. 😊
