A likovi?

Walk Me Home – Sebastian Fitzek

“Her fear acted on him like a drug, and he remained addicted to it even after her death. He felt pleasure when he saw the happiness fade from her eyes and when he noticed that his words and actions were killing every joy in her life.”

Have you read this book? What is your favourite by Fitzek?

What if the only certainty you have is the voice of a stranger on the phone?

Fitzek’s psychological thriller follows Jules Tannberg, a volunteer on a hotline for women who return home at night. On the other end of the line is Klara – a woman broken by constant physical, sexual and psychological abuse. A woman who no longer sees a way out of this life…

My first encounter with Fitzek was through The Patient, which delighted me with its psychological depth and ease of reading. I expected the same from Walk Me Home – with an added dose of creepiness.

And I got it. And more than I expected. Fitzek spares no one: the violence is brutal, the descriptions are raw, and the atmosphere is creepy to the core. The twists and turns are shocking and unpredictable, but the number of parallel events made me tired and confused at times.

And the characters? I didn’t like any of them – but maybe that was Fitzke’s intention.

All in all – a solid psychological thriller that will shock you but also entertain you.
