“Books are not meant to remain in your mind, but in your heart. Maybe they exist in your mind too, but as something more than memories. At a crossroads in life, a forgotten sentence or a story from years ago can come back to offer an invisible hand and guide you to a decision. Personally, I feel like the books I’ve read led me to make the choices I’ve made in life. While I may not remember all the details, the stories continue to exert a quiet influence on me.”

Iscrpljena životom i kronično nesretna, Yeongju odluči ostaviti stari život iza sebe i započeti novi.

Ako volite sporije radnje, ali uz puno topline i ugodnog osjećaja onda ju svakako pročitajte.

Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop – Hwang Bo-Reum

Exhausted by life and chronically unhappy, Yeongju decides to leave her old life behind and start a new one. A new life where Yeongju is the owner of the Hyunam-dong bookstore. A new life where Yeongju is surrounded by friends, writers and books. A new life where her workplace is also a place for lost souls where they can rest, heal and remember that it is never too late for a new beginning.

Sweet cookies, a hot cup of tea, a warm blanket, a soft pillow and a hug – that’s what this book is all about! In Korea it is described as “healing fiction” and in fact that genre describes it perfectly.

I really, really, really liked it. It is warm, pleasant, relaxing, full of wonderful quotes and wise thoughts, full of beautiful life moments and small moments of humanity and love in all forms – parental, friendly and between partners.

I read it little by little in the evening because I wanted it to last as long as possible and because I wanted to enjoy every sentence. And after I closed it, I knew that I would read it again in the winter when I’m tucked in, and it’s dark and cold outside, with rain or snow. 😊

If you like slower pace, but with a lot of warmth and a pleasant feeling, then definitely read it.
